Computer Requirements for Webinars
For immediate access and downloading of the webinars, students need a computer that is connected to the internet and should have the modest ability to download standard internet files (.PPT - .PDF - .DOC - .MP3). Upon request, we can also send out a CD with all of the files on it.
How This Works
There were 7 webinars (2 hours each) before our May-2009 Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course, all of which were live. Each of these were recorded so are now also available for home study to anyone with a computer. These are not canned or edited presentations. You will receive the recorded sessions just as they unfolded live for the students who took that training.
Recorded Webinar Features
In the live webinars, students called into our Midwest Permaculture conference room through Skype or over their own phone. As the webinar progressed students would view any slides or images that were shared by advancing them themselves on their own computer. These were posted on our website for our students ahead of time and download by each to their own computer to use that evening and to keep on their computer for continued viewing in the future.
In the webinar, students had the ability to ask questions or make comments either verbally or by using a text-chat feature available through the webinar room. Home-study students of this program receive a copy of the text-chat should they wish to follow what transpired. Some good reference material or links were posted in the text-chat.

Should a student decide to take a Midwest Permaculture Design Certification Course in the future, the $195 is fully credited toward their registration fee. This credit will be carried forward for up to 3 years. When a students takes a future course they get to participate in the new round of webinars as well if they choose.
Additional Networking Feature
With the webinars there is also a networking 'home room' where all registered students can post their personal bios, share ideas or questions and just get to know other webinar students if they like.. It is similar to FaceBook (if you are familiar with that) but private. This is completely optional (to interact with others) but the networking site is where you will go to access the webinars, handouts and 150 questions.
Feel free to look around our Midwest Permaculture networking site. You won't be able to fully access the "Webinars" room under "PDC Forums" for this is only for registered students, but all of the "Public Forums" are fully available for everyone to visit and you will get a feel for what the webinar page is like.
Our hope is that people interested in permaculture will be able to meet others in this 'networking site of like minds' to share ideas and inspiration.
Internet Connection High-speed connections are great, but students with just a 56K dial-up modem are able to hear the audio after it is fully downloaded, view the text-chat as it unfolded, and view the slides with little or no problems.
Windows, Mac & Linux? - No Problem
As long as you have a computer connected to the internet, you have immediate access to these standard .mp3, .pdf, .ppt, and .doc files.
