Kate founded the Madison Area Permaculture Guild in 2008 shortly after completing her PDC and continues to coordinate this grassroots organization today. Through her business, Sustainability on Stilts, LLC, she designs, educates and consults on Permaculture. 

Kate hosted Midwest Permaculture for the delivery of several PDC courses in Madison after taking her PDC with us. After hosting and attending these she felt ready to be a lead teacher of her own Permaculture Design Certificate courses and has since hosted/taught one PDC course per year since 2011. Dates for her upcoming three-weekend 2018 PDC course will be March 7, 8 & 9, April 13,14 & 15, May 4,5 & 6. (Registration Here)

Kate now also teaches permaculture at the Continuing Education Department of Madison College, Olbrich Gardens, and other venues.  She was honored as a Badger Bioneer in 2010 and received recognition from Oxfam as a Woman Leader in her community in 2011.   She serves on the Board of Community Groundworks at Troy Gardens on the north side of Madison.

She has also served on the Advisory Board of the Edgewood College Sustainability Leadership Graduate Program, and on the Vision Team of Town & Country RC&D.   Kate received her Advanced PDC through Midwest Permaculture in 2009 and her Permaculture Teaching Certificate through Peter Bane and Sandy Cruz in 2013.

Being a mentor and cheerleader for people embarking on their quest and exploration of Permaculture is one of her ongoing loves.  Kate is on the front line of making permaculture a household term in Madison and we could not be more grateful or impressed by her tireless love and contributions.
